Dental Crowns
A crown, or cap, can be a solution to a variety of dental issues. A crown is made from a tooth colored material, and completely covers an existing tooth.
Our skilled dentist may recommend a dental crown to:
Restore a tooth after it has sustained damage due to injury or tooth decay
Protect a tooth after a root canal treatment
Anchor a dental bridge
Cap and complete a dental implant
Strengthen a tooth that is cracked, fractured or weakened
Support a tooth with a large filling
Improve a misshapen tooth
Enhance the appearance of your teeth and smile
A crown requires two visits. At the first one, our dentist will prepare your tooth for a crown and take impressions for the lab to make the new crown. You will have a temporary crown placed. At the second visit, the temp is removed and the new crown is cemented on. Before the crown is cemented on, you will have a chance to approve the fit and color match.
A note about temp crowns:
A temporary crown protects the tooth while the lab is making the new crown. However, there can still be some sensitivity while you’re waiting for the new crown. Occasionally, they can come off in between your two visits. If this happens, call us and we will get you in to recement the temporary crown.
